Tae Hea Nahm

Managing Director

Tae Hea Nahm is a founding general partner of Storm Ventures. His investment strategy is focused on mobile and Software-as-a-Service (SaaS).

In mobile, his current investments include: AirPlug (Korean startup), Com2us (mobile games and public on KOSDAQ), MobileIron (smart device management for enterprises), Modo Labs (mobile middleware/solutions), and CellFire (mobile coupons). His prior mobile investments include: AireSpace/founding CEO (enterprise WLAN platforms; acquired by Cisco), Berkana Wireless/co-Chairman (cellular RF silicon; acquired by Qualcomm), McubeWorks (Korean, mobile video; acquired by CoreLogic), JetCell (inbuilding cellular; acquired by Cisco) and Netro (fixed wireless, IPO; acquired by SR Telecom). He is also a Corporate Strategy Advisor to KT (a leading Korean carrier and a limited partner in Storm).

In SaaS, Tae Hea’s current investments include: Marketo (revenue performance management) and MobileIron. His prior software investments include: Access360 (identity management; acquired by IBM), AtRoad (fleet management, IPO; acquired by Trimble), EchoSign (esignatures; acquired by Adobe) and OSA Technologies (embedded management; acquired by Avocent).

Tae Hea enjoys investing at the earliest stage. He has started companies within Storm, when he was passionate about a specific market opportunity and unable to find the right startup for that opportunity. For example, he hired the founders for AireSpace (while serving as acting CEO) and the founders for MobileIron, and provided the business idea for AirPlug. He also recruited and funded Storm EIRs, including Ilbok Lee (Silego) and Jason Lemkin (EchoSign). Partnering with great founders is a top priority for Tae Hea (see founder presentation).

Born in Seoul, Korea, Tae Hea has worked at a leading Korean law firm (Shin & Kim) and represented Korean corporations (such as Samsung). At Storm, he has invested in numerous Korean founders: AirPlug, Berkana Wireless, Com2us, Hansol HealthCare, IML, McubeWorks, Novera Optics and Silego.

He currently serves on the board of Silego. He has invested in other semiconductor companies: IML (public on TWSE), Berkana Wireless, ESS Technology (IPO), IC Works (acq by Cypress), Marvell Technology (IPO), Quality Semiconductor (IPO) and SMI (acquired by SemTech).

He also currently serves on the board of Asoka. He has invested in other networking companies: Novera Optics (acquired by LG Nortel), Ramp Networks (IPO; acquired by Nokia), StrataCom (IPO; acquired by Cisco), Telera (acquired by Alcatel), Transmedia (acquired by Cisco) and Xylan (IPO; acquired by Alcatel).

Prior to Storm, Tae Hea was a founding partner of Venture Law Group and a partner at Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, where he advised and personally invested in numerous startups.

He holds an AB in Applied Mathematics from Harvard College and a JD from University of Chicago Law School.
